This figure is based upon sections truncated from the Abbreviated Injury Scale 2008 dictionary [2], although modified (simplified and colour added) for clarity. Two injury types are illustrated - I. cerebral subdural haematomas, and II. tibial fractures. AIS08 codes (blue) are shown, with dictionary maps from AIS08 back to AIS98 (green) and from AIS98 forwards to AIS08 (red) seen in Columns 3 and 4. Highlighted codes refer to specific references to this Figure throughout this paper.
